EU Digital Single Market – Proposals & Responses

The EU Commission has put forward proposals for the digital single market. These will have an impact on forthcoming debates in the UK Parliament on the Digital Economy Bill, proposed in July this year. The Commission’s proposals affect copyright issues and the delivery of broadcasters material online. They will have an effect not just on the creative industries but also on all arts/culture sectors.

Here is the press release from the Commission:

And the memo on copyright:

In response to proposed changes affecting rules governing online transmissions of broadcasters programmes/ services and copyright many EU creative industry/creator organisations wrote a joint letter to Commission President Juncker calling for the principle of territoriality on audiovisual rights to be respected in order to protect current film funding models.
